ここのところ、私は背後について考えている。それは、物事の裏側にある意味とか、概念的なものではなく、身体における背後、すなわち背中側の不可視の世界についてだ。遠い国の出来事や、顔も知らない人々の日常が"見えてしまう"今日においても、どうしたって、見過ごしてしまう世界が私たちの真後ろにはある。その身体的な限界に立ち戻ってみることが、ふと必要に思えた。
背後の写真を撮り始めたのは、今年の1月からである。仕事の行き帰り、ちょっとした散歩、旅行の先々で、何かに注目して写真を撮る。そして、その場で背後にもカメラを向け、シャッターを切るといった具合だ。そうして見えるようになったものは、目的や意図に染まる以前の、素朴な世界の光景であり、また扱いに困る異物でもあった。より端的に言えば「つまらない写真」だろうか。
本展で発表しているものは、撮影を続けながら、背後について思考を深めるにあたり、必要に応じて制作した作品である。撮影初期からまとめている簡易的な冊子を分解して置いたもの。ドローイングや狙って撮影した写真と、背後の写真をまち針で仮留めしたもの。それらは、「つまらない写真」を、「面白い写真」として解釈することより、ただ、私の意識にそういう世界があるということを、忘れさせないために形にしたものでもある。ただ、これらを見ている間にも、背後は見過ごされ続けている。この堂々巡りを無為と見なすのではなく、「私は大して世界が見えていない」という、不確かさの肯定としたい。

These days, I've been thinking about the background.It is not about the meaning behind things or the conceptual, but about the invisible world behind the body, that is, the back.Even today, when we "see" the events of distant countries and the daily lives of people we don't even know, there is a world right behind us that we overlook.It suddenly seemed necessary to go back to that physical limitation.
It was in January this year that he started taking pictures of the background.I take pictures with my attention to something on my way to and from work, for a short walk, and for every part of my trip.Then, on the spot, they point their cameras behind them and close the shutters.It was a simple sight of the world before it was stained with purpose and intent, and it was also a foreign object that was difficult to deal with.To put it more simply, is it a "funny photo"?
What we are presenting at this exhibition is a work that we have created as necessary to deepen our thoughts on the background while continuing to shoot.This is a collection of simple booklets that have been collected since the beginning of photographing.Drawings, photographs taken for the purpose, and photos behind the scenes are temporarily fixed with a needle.Rather than interpreting "funny pictures" as "funny pictures," they were just shaped to keep me from forgetting that there is such a world in my consciousness.However, while watching these things, the background continues to be overlooked.Rather than regard this roundabout as futile, I would like to affirm the uncertainty of "I don't see much of the world."
